Dear Editor:
Im not as alarmed by the Presidents decision to replace due process of law with secret military tribunals as by the fact that he has been able to seize this power for himself without challenge.
If our constitutional protections can be erased by something as simple as an executive order, then I dont see how anyone can say we ever had those protections to begin with. Apparently we possess a Bill of Rights only at the discretion of George Bush. If these high-sounding guarantees are nothing but cosmetic fluff which can be set aside by the dictate of whatever autocratic popinjay occupies the White House, maybe its time to abolish them altogether and rid ourselves of the illusion of freedom.
Sincerely,
Michael Moore
